Patrick Clifford, M.D., FACOG

Although his family hails from Vermont, Dr. Patrick Clifford was born in Germany where he grew up on a military base. He came to Vermont to go to UVM. After graduation, he worked for five years as a critical care nurse. He then attended UVM Medical School and completed his residency at Fletcher Allen.

Dr. Clifford joined Dr. Taber, a long-time Burlington OB/GYN, and eventually took over the practice. He worked solo for many years then welcomed a nurse midwife. It was a small, but very busy office with personal care as its hallmark. The practice has grown steadily with the addition of Kim Blake MD, Dale Lacroix MD, Greta Hanson MD, and Suzanne Scharf NP, however, its intimacy remains.

Dr. Clifford's practice interest, besides obstetrics, is minimally invasive surgery.  He is an experienced laparoscopist who has had a great deal of success treating conditions such as endometriosis and pelvic adhesions.  Currently he is one of only a handful of physicians in Vermont approved to perform daVinci-assisted robotic surgery.  This allows him to operate on complicated pelvic anatomy laparoscopically and patients often are home within 24 hours of their surgery.  DaVinci surgery results in faster return to work and play.  For more information, search www.daVincihysterectomy.com.

When he’s not working, Dr. Clifford enjoys skiing, golfing and spending time with his family.
